I love all the shelves and as you can see, they are all in use. I also scrapbook, crochet and knit, so along with my quilting things it didn't take long to fill the closet. Thankfully for the Dollar Store, I bought many small totes to store things in.
I'm still unpacking and the only sewing I've done is toppers and I altered several draperies for the windows. I've got a large circle of lady friends, so when the weather is beautiful and when they call...I'm on the road, out to coffee or a long walk! I can unpack when the snow is a foot deep!
Some of my lady friends and myself have started the "17 Day Diet." Last week we were on the "Cabbage Soup Diet" to kick start out metabolism. It's great having support! I put on weight when I was on the steroids, now it's time to address the results of that!
I trust all my blog friends are having a wonderful summer...keep in touch. I will be back soon...after the unpacking!!hlken53http://www.blogger.com/profile/08448694074265247000noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5895635492491360657.post-54619506131312043352011-05-28T09:11:00.000-03:002011-05-28T09:11:57.200-03:00Hello Blogging friends!

I’m still not quilting!

Packing and unpacking is a tedious job. I’m finding things I forgot I owned! Downsizing from a house to a mini home isn’t easy…a yard sale will be scheduled at a later date.

I miss quilting. The past few times that I took time to sit at my computer, I visited bogs to see what every one is up to—the result of this is I WANT TO QUILT! I’m thinking it will be awhile though; I still have so much to do.

By the way, I actually am getting a social life! Six of us ladies met last evening for coffee—I haven’t laughed that hard in a very long time!! My laughter is good for the heart and soul, I feel rejuvenated this morning!
hlken53http://www.blogger.com/profile/08448694074265247000noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5895635492491360657.post-21768154241064966692011-05-16T20:56:00.002-03:002011-05-16T20:56:22.785-03:00I'm movedI love my new home, it's so cute! I'm busy unpacking, I sure miss working on a quilt, but first things first...I've got to find my sewing machine!hlken53http://www.blogger.com/profile/08448694074265247000noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5895635492491360657.post-67845311267993040782011-04-21T08:16:00.000-03:002011-04-21T08:16:16.628-03:00Happy Easter!

Another busy weekend! I'm invited to my sister-in-laws for supper on Saturday. I'm taking cranberry pies and rolls. I will be happy to see all of her family and my niece and nephew and their families. There should be about 25 of us, a great way to spend the holiday meal together.
Sunday, my daughter and her family are coming! The house is in total chaos, but who cares, it's just family! I wanted to have one more meal together before I move. I can't believe I'm moving, I've spent most of my life here. I'm a bit sad but I'm also overjoyed to be moving to a new home and being debt free will be wonderful!! I will be able to join the town quilt guild and the rug hooking group too!
Blessing to all and have a fantastic Easter!hlken53http://www.blogger.com/profile/08448694074265247000noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5895635492491360657.post-84357621542140584682011-04-10T08:43:00.000-03:002011-04-10T08:43:33.689-03:00I'm Moving! After three years of waiting, worrying and hoping...I'm moving. I SOLD my house, finally. I won't lie, it's going to be rough leaving this place, after all I grew up here and the Grand Lake is so beautiful BUT it isn't sensible for me to stay here alone anymore. There is too much up-keep and maintance and my neighbours have all passed away. The community is starting to build again, with young folks and strangers to the area. I'm moving to a place 3 km from the town of Sussex, just on the outskirts, really close to everything, yet not right in the town. I'm moving to a new mini home, it's being built now, and I will be living in the park. I have a beautiful corner lot facing the road so I will have my privacy on one side....lets hope I like it. Once I move it's too late for regrets!!
I won't be quilting for the next few weeks....stay tuned....I will be back!!hlken53http://www.blogger.com/profile/08448694074265247000noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5895635492491360657.post-39405297451600940062011-03-25T20:51:00.000-03:002011-03-25T20:51:58.639-03:00Easter Eggs

Today I decided to make some batik Easter eggs for the dining room table. I've worked all winter on "The Joys of Winter" quilt and I need a break away from it. I worked on the joining blocks two days and I'm having difficulties piecing them together properly. So, I'm talking a break from it. I think I'll work on a few small projects that I've saved from other Blog Spots. There are so MANY good and talented quilters on the blogs, I wonder if I will ever get to that point with my quilting! Have a great day everybody!hlken53http://www.blogger.com/profile/08448694074265247000noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5895635492491360657.post-27087078767343761462011-03-22T09:04:00.000-03:002011-03-22T09:04:24.881-03:00Australian choirSo patriotic...I really enjoyed this video, hats off to the choir!
I'm done for the day. My house is for sale with a realtor because I want to move to town. I sometimes am torn whether to move or not...well ask me now how I feel about that! Each storm this winter I would dread going out to clear the snow, but I would also give thanks that I'm here this winter to do so. I would thank God, grab the shovel and get to work...BUT if you're reading this God, ENOUGH already!!hlken53http://www.blogger.com/profile/08448694074265247000noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5895635492491360657.post-43841617200491463572011-02-26T11:46:00.000-04:002011-02-26T11:57:48.517-04:00Time to make a quilt!

When I was vacationing last year my daughter took me to a quilt store called "The Cherry Pit" in Sevierville, TN. It's a lovely shop, very quaint and the owner, Jane is very helpful. The quilting displayed throughout the store was amazing! My daughter loved this pattern, I purchased the entire BOM so I could make it for her. It looks to me like a real challenge but I'm going to attempt making it! It's called "Joys of Winter" by Lynda Howell.
On the down side of things, we have a lot of snow and it's COLD! Both decks had snow half way up the doors and I had to shovel to get out. The snow has drifted half way up the sash on my front window. Our winter started out so mild but February has made up for the lack of snow in January. I sure hope this is the last major storm.hlken53http://www.blogger.com/profile/08448694074265247000noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5895635492491360657.post-91873428915365244972011-02-25T22:38:00.001-04:002011-02-25T22:38:36.671-04:00What a storm!

8:00 p.m. and not over yet!hlken53http://www.blogger.com/profile/08448694074265247000noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5895635492491360657.post-83431755931384568652011-02-25T15:42:00.001-04:002011-02-25T15:42:32.783-04:00New BOM available FREEhttp://katlovesquilts.blogspot.com/hlken53http://www.blogger.com/profile/08448694074265247000noreply@blogger.com0
